The Pope On Judas

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Judas Iscariot. Part of it has to do that I believe his life was akin to a one way trip down the slaughterhouse chute. The Pope speaks about him:
"We ask ourselves why Jesus chose this man and put His trust in him. ... Even more uncertain is the mystery concerning his eternal fate." However "it is not for us to judge his gesture, putting ourselves in the place of God, Who is infinitely merciful and just," the Pope continued.

That is why on all souls day, when we pray for "that one soul most forsaken", I send up a special prayer for Judas.
