I always enjoy reading The Catholic Cavemen. The Neanderthals there at least have their hearts in the right place. They (especially the Caveman himself) are really humorous with the jumping up and down, yelling "ook, ook, ook" and swinging their clubs at the elusive "spirit" of Vatican II.
So when the spelunky one himself said:
I've checked out a couple of blogs the past few days that are pretty much against the Motu Proprio ever seeing the light of day. I wonder why these "conservative Novus Ordo" sites are suffering from Motuphobia so badly?
I think I know the reason why.... I remember reading a year or so back, someone (to whom I'm indebted for pointing this out) that these self-ordained defenders of the Mass of Paul VI look upon themselves as being the Lord High Protectors of Novus Ordo Orthodoxy. A contradiction in terms if their ever was one.
But let them enjoy their Calvinistic wet-dreams and Luthergasms. This rather brief flirtation with Protestantism will eventually fade away and die a wimpering death.
Hahahahahaha!!! He has a way with words doesn't he. This sort of NODS (Novus Ordo Derangement Syndrome) from people who claim to be orthodox always amuses me. One of the reasons is, that Mr. More-Catholic-Than-Thou doesn't understand that part of being Catholic is accepting the Church's teachings, even those you don't particularly like. This, unfortunately for them, means that Paul VI was a validly elected Pope, who validly promulgated a new missae (that's Latin :)). This means that at the local "clown mass", if the matter is valid, the words are correct, there is the proper intent, and the celebrant is ordained, yes, our Lord and Savior is there too.
So always one to enjoy poking a neanderthal with a stick, I wrote:
Ahhh... Motu... You can almost hear the ecstasy in their voices. The motu will change every thing. It will roll back the horrible changes of Vatican II, it will make everyone more pious, it will transform everyone's clothing immediately into "Sunday best", it will put a veil on every female head, and it will even make your corn flakes stay crunchy in milk!!!
Here is my prognostication (I know fortune telling is a sin against the first commandment, but this is using past behavior to determine possible future behavior).
The motu will be promulgated, and there will be a collective traditionalist orgasm which will be followed by waves of "I told you so, you libruls are gonna get it now!" posts.
Then reality will set in.
1. The priests who want to celebrate the rite of Trent will celebrate it. This isn't a whole lot different than it is now, except in a few bastions of moonbattery like Los Angeles, Orange, Seattle, and Rochester, NY.
In Syracuse diocese, all it takes for an indult is a call to the chancery, but the rad-traddies, like spoiled children don't want to ask for permission (even if it is traditionally [heh, I made a punny] universally given by the Bishop).
2. Those priests who want to celebrate one Trid mass a week, will find their community fractured into the "traddies" and the "novos" (and if you think the sharks and the jets were bad...)
3. Those priests who go completely Trid, will find people going to whatever mass they feel most comfortable. People do have things called "automobiles" that allow them to move quickly and easily from place to place. You'll still have people who prefer St. Bozo's down the street where they have the clown mass they like.
4. Not a whole lot is going to change because we don't have priests in the numbers we need who have the training and more importantly the inclination to celebrate the traditional mass.
What needs to change to have a renewal in the church is a change in the hearts and minds of the people. We need priests who celebrate the mass piously, reverently and faithfully and by their actions, convert the hearts of their flocks. Now is time for pastors who take it easy, not "Catholic cavemen" swinging their clubs at those nasty libs.
We are doing that in our church. The kooks have moved on, and the people who are into worship have moved in, and we don't have exclusively Latin, chant and ad orientem.
Our cave-dwelling friend responded:
You left one thing out, smart-ass.... this is the beginning of the end of Roman Protestantism.
And the best part is, you and the rest of the neo-luthers who are hell bent on the watering-down of the Church know it.
The Motu Proprio pisses all of you off so bad, it actually seeps through the internet.
I LOVE IT!!!!
By the way, there's a word for you "lib's" within The Church... you're called "Protestants".
Hope you enjoyed posting here. It's your last.
Heh, heh, heh... I would have prefered to banter in my club wielding friend's sandbox, but he has taken that option away from me, so what the heck. I haven't had a good pillow fight in a long time so here goes:
You left one thing out, smart-ass....
Nyaaa, nyaaa, nyaa... It takes one to know one! :)
this is the beginning of the end of Roman Protestantism.
If you want to see a "Roman Protestant" take a long hard look in the mirror. Your friends the SSPX, like Luther before them, are in formal schism. This, because they take what parts of Catholicism they want and eject the rest. You may not like Vatican II, but it was as valid a council as Trent. The Holy Spirit resided there just as He did at Trent. Those who were guided by that same spirit of God, moved the Church in the direction that the Spirit (of God, not Vatican II) willed.
And the best part is, you and the rest of the neo-luthers who are hell bent on the watering-down of the Church know it.
The Motu Proprio pisses all of you off so bad, it actually seeps through the internet.

The same word applies to you "cons" outside The Church. Only God can judge the state of your soul, but from your words, you appear to me to be if not in formal schism, in "spiritual schism".
The Spirit of God should fill us with His peace. You don't seem to be filled. Next time I'm kneeling before the exposed Blessed Sacrament, I'll be sure to say a Pater, and an Ave for you (I'll even do it in Latin, because we all know God doesn't understand English ;))
And the Motu doesn't piss me off. I personally can't wait. It'll be interesting to read exactly what it says (not the spirit of the motu proprio :)).
I really hope in my heart that it leads to a renewal in the Catholic Church. Unfortunately, I'm not hopeful. It has taken us 40 years to get to this particular AmChurch wasteland, it may take us 40 or more to get back (interesting that the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years before reaching the promised land).
But a renewal in the Church will not happen by Balkanizing it into factions. It will happen when faithful Catholics, leading by example, help convert the hearts of their neighbors in the pews, and in society at large.
Hope you enjoyed posting here. It's your last.
Seems there will be no dissention in the "cave". Strong faith can be defended. I do it all the time, but the Cave man doesn't seem to want to do it. That's ok. It's his place, his rules.
But he's welcome to pick up a pillow and join me in the forums if he want some substantial discussion about how to bring about real change.
Update: substantial discussion is not in the cave man's vocabulary it seems:
But anyhow, I was briefly checking out his blog (with a title that's more befitting a giggly girl or a "sensitive" boy ~ Catholic Ticklefight, or some such nonsense)
Well, my cave dwelling friend, if you hover the little pointy thing over the link, you can read what the actual name of the blog is. So I have to figure out if you're technologically challenged, or literacy challenged. Also, when referencing someone's blog, it's customary to give them a link, like I did yours. That courtesy usually extended to friend and foe alike, especially when quoting text off of their page.
I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge that most of you reading this were raised with the Mass of Paul VI (The New Mass), just like I was. With that said, I ask of you, dear reader, to take this in objectively.
I was serving the Tridentine mass when you were a gleam in your parents eyes, so you're a little late to the party, Caveman.
When do you think this may have happened?
"After the Consecration comes the Communion. Many of the congregation have not been to Confession and many have not
There's no source for this text (ummm... that's called "plagiarism").
But a little Googling shows that it is from the schismatic sect, SSPX.
Are you Catholic? Getting your dogma from a group as schismatic as Lutherans? Don't you get your Catholicism from the Holy Father and living Magesterium like me and most Roman Catholics on the planet?
There simply is no getting around it... the New Mass is protestant inspired, period. Only a blind man or a fool would argue against the obvious.
Actually, since Paul VI was a validly elected Pope, that makes his Mass inspired by the Holy Spirit. If you don't believe it was inspired by the Holy Spirit, then you, sir, are in schism and you have more in common with our Lutheran bretheren than I. Both of you are "extra ecclesiam" (that's Latin) and that means "nulla salus" (more Latin) for you. Actually, you as apostate have more of a problem with this than people who were brought up Lutheran. You are a member of the Catholic church and are rejecting it.
For those arriving late, who haven't read much of the stuff I've posted:
I love the old Mass. I love chant and polyphony. I love the old prayers, the old names for the parts of the Mass. I love statues, candles, stained glass, frescoes of angels and saints. I love the Blessed Mother, altar rails, candles and incense.
I dislike felt banners, denuded "worship spaces", pews without kneelers, eucharistic chapels, and most anything written by Haugen or Haas.
I would love nothing better than to roll back the clock and undo Vatican II and the Novus Ordo. But that is not God's will. God's will is where we are. For better or worse, the Novus Ordo is the de-facto Latin rite of the Roman Catholic Church.
We can work with what we have, making the Novus Ordo the prayerful, blessed meeting with our God that it was meant to be. This doesn't mean throwing the baby out with the bath water. It happened to me right after Vatican II, and I don't want it to happen to this generation of Catholics.
I believe the Holy Spirit is working for the renewal of the Church, but it will happen in God's good time, not mine and certainly not yours.
So you will be my special intention for this Sunday's rosary where us "prots girly boys" meet to pray for our Blessed Mother's intercession.
Maybe she'll ask her Son to touch your heart with His peace, and the attitude to pray the one prayer He always answers in the affirmative.
"Thy will be done."
