My friend Tom is a member of a band named Old Friends. He is one of the most supremely talented musicians I've had the pleasure to meet. Their band plays mostly Irish traditional, bluegrass, oldies, etc.
They have just cut a CD, of which my favorite song is Fields of Athenry. It's a song about a man who, trying to feed his family during the Irish potato famine, steals some corn from a land baron, and is sent to Australia on a prison ship. To listen to a small clip of their song, click here.
Go to the CD link and listen to all of the clips. If you like traditional Irish, you'll love this. And it's worth going through the trouble of e-mailing them (they don't have any shopping cart set up yet).
