Oh, The Bitterness

The National Catholic Reporter (not to be confused with the National Catholic Register) appears to be staffed with bitter hippies from the 60's. One really needs to ponder why they continue to call themslves Catholic, and why they don't, en mass, swim the Thames to find better pickings there.

The latest outrage is perpetrated by Patty McCarty, a self proclaimed grandmother.
So I think I could preside at Mass. If called upon.

And probably the only people racketing around and ready to turn our backs to the congregation and pray those Latin prayers are retirement-age priests with long memories and folks taught by sisters in pre-Vatican II Catholic schools.

I've been faithful to the pope’s requests in the past. As a Communion minister [ed.- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion with the emphesis on "Extraordinary"], some time ago, at the pope's request, I gave up washing the dishes -- excuse me, cleansing the sacred vessels after Mass. [ed.- Oh my, the disrespect. Purifying the sacred vessels containing the blood of our Lord and Savior is "washing the dishes"]

And although I'm the mother of four grown children and the grandmother of nine, I've lived a celibate life for longer than I lived a married life. If celibacy is valued, that should count for something. [ed.- I don't know if it was celibacy by choice, what with Patty's attitude problem. Seriously, who would want to marry a womynpriest wannabe?]

I just want the pope to know I'm ready if called upon.

I can't wait to twirl around in that cape -- excuse me, cope at Benediction [ed.- Ooohhh... "twirl around in the cape". The sarcasm not only drips, it oozes]

I think it's time for Patty to concentrate on another sacrament rather than communion, and that's "reconciliation" (we who were educated by pre-Vatican II nuns call it "confession"). She should do the talking, not be pining to be doing the listening.
