It seems that Cardinal McCarrick does not agree with Abp. Burke's recommendation (supported by Canon Law) to refuse to give Communion to those politicians who support the killing of innocent children of God through abortion.
WASHINGTON DC, October 12 (CNA) - Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the retired archbishop of Washington D.C. has recommended that the Catholic Church forcefully preach the pro-life message to presidential candidates rather than following Archbishop Burke’s suggestion of denying them Communion.
Then in my humble opinion, Cardinal McCarrick is not being very pastoral. His job is to minister to all souls, even those of pro-abortion politicians. By refusing to deny Communion to them, he is allowing them to compound one mortal sin with another. That is, the receiving of the Body of Christ unworthily sinning against our Lord's precious Body and Blood.
The good Cardinal should be gripping the politicians' handbaskets and holding on, not giving them a shove on the way to hell.
