Paul brings my attention to an editorial from the National "Catholic" Reporter. Here they speak of the Roman Catholic Womanpriest priestesses who I affectionately refer to as the Red Poncho Ladies. They strike me as somewhat like the kooky aunt who thinks she's Napoleon who you keep in the attic.
Paul did a little more in depth commentary, but I'd like to focus on this:
The hierarchy is rightly nervous about women declaring themselves ordained, however illegally, because these ceremonies carry a strong implicit message.
The hierarchy is rightly nervous about women declaring themselves ordained priests as they are by men declaring themselves ordained priests. The latter are a little more dangerous, because if your priest has a vagina, her sacraments are not valid. You can't make that determination with a man impersonating a priest.
However with the lopsided coverage of these ladies by the ordinary ministers of the media, the uninformed could be led to believe that these ladies are indeed ordained. Imagine one of them arriving on the scene of a bad accidents and (not) administering last rites to a dying victim. The victim believes he's getting the last rites, but he's not. His immortal soul is in danger. She cannot absolve sins.
Also, any "communion" she may distribute is just a cracker. It has 0% of the recommended daily allowance of Jesus.
These women need to be denounced loudly and publicly. Souls are at stake.
