The good news is the United States (more specifically the Diocese of Kansas City) has a new seminarian. The bad news is he's obnoxious. Really obnoxious. Self proclaimedly obnoxious. Well... I've been sparring with Fr. O'Leary, so he's really not that obnoxious. :)
He goes by the handle of Papal Seminarian and his picture (I have to believe it's his... he's a seminarian after all) shows the roman collar. My kind of future priest. Can you imagine him leading your flock? Well, not if you're a "faith community", with liturgical dancers, homilistic "presenters", glass cups and saucers, EMEs up the wazoo and a gay/lesbian singles group.
If you're a Catholic church who has a lingering whiff of incense, has a statue or two, maybe a bank of votive candles, and you know what "Agnus Dei" means (and can possibly even chant it!) he'll be right at home in your parish.
He sets the tone with:
I desired too much to be a pastor. I know what your thinking. Cranky, OBNOXIOUS Seminarian wants to be a pastor? It makes you cringe doesn't it. Ha Ha. I was called to be a Fisher of Men though and I intend to cast my net into deep water so that Christ may save many souls through the use of my hands. The saving of souls is most important to me, and it takes a firm, loving, compassionate priest to do this.
Note: he says save souls. He doesn't say: "All are welcome". He doesn't say: "Sing a new church". He doesn't say: "Kumbaya". HE says: "save souls"!. Wheeeeee!!!!!
Welcome, brother. Grab a pillow. You'll need it. :)
(Oh, before I forget, OB. H/T to The Curt Jester. You hooked a good one , Jeff. :))
