Today, Senator McCain picked my absolute first choice for Vice President, the Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. She is smart, and ethical reformer with impeccible pro-life creds.
An Obama spokesman wastes no time criticizing her:
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies - that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same,” said spokesman Bill Burton.
Well, let's see... Overturning Roe v. Wade would be a pretty big "change", and she challenges the influence of big oil, hardly in keeping with their "agenda".
And (hee, hee, hee), Burton used the "E" word. Experience. Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Barack Obama. To paraphrase Hillary Clinton: "Governor Palin has two years of executive experience in one of the biggest states in the union. Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002".
She also finished second in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant. Brains, beauty, experience, ethics, a unblemished pro-life viewpoint. All in all, the perfect complement to the old, experienced curmudgeon.
Excellent pick, Senator McCain.
