Yesterday, John McCain announced that in the face of the United States financial crisis, he will suspend his campaign, postpone this Friday's debate, and go to Washington to do the job for which he was elected.
Some call it a "political stunt". Those people don't know John McCain. Let me explain it to you...
John McCain leads.
While Barack Obama pays lip service and concentrates on the most important thing to him, getting elected, John McCain rolls up his sleeves, hunkers down and works to do what's best for the American people.
Barack Obama is all words, that's why he wants to continue debating. He doesn't want to be compared, side by side, with John McCain doing the country's work, because that comparison won't be very flattering. He might be subjected to economic questions he hasn't had time to prepare with his advisors for (advisors like Jim Johnson, disgraced CEO of Fannie Mae).
I don't like the idea of this bailout to the tune of $700 billion. John McCain may have to vote for it, because he has more information than me, and he believes it is what is best for the good of the country. But he will do it, because it is the right thing to do, and political consequences be damned.
Democrats in Congress like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will not take action without Republican support. Not because they want to arrive at a bi-partisan agreement, but because they don't really know what to do, and they will not take the lead and put their political careers on the line to help protect the American public from financial ruin.
They are cowards, and I hope the whole country gets a gander at your Democrat "leadership".
I am proud of John McCain, I'm proud of the Republicans in Congress.
Wake up America.
